A few lookbacks about Museum happenings……

JIM CLARK MOTORSPORT MUSEUM

Formula One legend, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, officially opened the new Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns, Scottish Borders on Thursday 29 August 2019. The museum honours and charts the life and racing career of the Scottish Borders farmer and double Formula One World Champion Jim Clark. ( museum re opening, pic courtesy of Phil Wilkinson)

OXFORD BUS MUSEUM

Volunteers in our transport museums provide a valuable service. Oxford Bus Museum has been presented with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, signed by Her Majesty the Queen. It is the first time that a Road Transport Museum has won such an award, established in 2002 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Her Majesty’s Coronation.

The first vehicle in the Oxford Bus Museum collection was a 1949 AEC Regal III, with Willowbrook bodywork (registration NJO 703). There are now some 40 vehicles in the Bus Museum. Many have been restored and some are used to transport visitors from the nearby car park to the Long Hanborough Museum site.

In 2004 it provided a home for the Morris Motors Museum which traces the development of the Nuffield Group of companies. It houses a collection of Morris vehicles from a 1928 Bullnose Cowley to a 1977 Mini as well as a Nuffield tractor.

LAKELAND MOTOR MUSEUM

Always pleased to see Car Clubs, Lakeland Motor Museum host several events each year. They add to their collection when opportunity permits so there is usually something new to see on your visit.
