British Motor Museums

2nd May 2018

The British Motor Museum and Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) are again supporting this year’s Stratford Festival of Motoring, displaying three iconic cars from its collections. The Festival takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon over the May Bank Holiday weekend - Sunday 6 and Monday 7 May, with these cars on display both days in Wood Street.

The Museum will be displaying HUE, the 1948 Land Rover series 1 pre-production model. This year is Land Rovers 70th Anniversary.. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) will be bringing along its world famous rally winning XK120 - NUB 120, as the XK engine and XK120 are also celebrating their 70th Anniversary.

The third car is bound to be a selfie sensation – a Union Jack livery 2001 XK8 Jaguar, a relic of the Austin Powers car from “Goldmember”. This car was used by Jaguar as a press car, originally blue, it was later re-painted in the Union Jack colour scheme and used for press events before being handed over to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.

This year’s festival theme is the Italian Job! The 2018 festival will follow the same successful formula as the past 5 years with an organised run out into the countryside on both mornings with about 300 cars returning to be on display in the town centre. The festival is free for spectators and there is a wide range of cars on display from classics through to modern muscle cars. In addition the British Motor Museum will be running a competition from their stand to win a family ticket to the Museum, as well as giving out discount vouchers for Museum entry.
